Impact at Work: Nonprofit Tour

22 June, 2018 @ 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm

The Park City Giving Guide highlights local nonprofit organizations that help make this such a great place to live, work, visit, and play. In bringing together donors, volunteers, nonprofits, and community members, Park City Community Foundation is helping create an enduring philanthropic community to benefit all the people of Park City.

Park City Community Foundation is hosting a nonprofit tour on Friday, June 22, 2018. The event will tour PC Tots and Recycle Utah and end with a performance by Mountain Town Music at the home of a Community Foundation board member.

The Giving Guide features 45 nonprofits that serve the greater Park City area. You can give to our nonprofits by visiting the Park City Giving Guide. You can also select your favorite areas of interest or give directly to Park City Community Foundation in support of all.

PC Tots

When you think about your favorite server at one of Park City’s many local eateries, or the young barista who knows your name and your daily coffee order, have you ever thought about where the children of these dedicated workers go for childcare? Because childcare in Summit County costs as much as tuition to a good state university, many of their kids are left at unlicensed homes lacking basic child safety precautions because parents have no other choice. To make matters worse, our hospitality workers are busiest when schools close down—so their need for childcare is pressing and expensive. PC Tots opened to children in March of 2016 and now has two centers offering quality, early education and childcare to 102 children, for up to 11 hours a day, 5 days a week, every week of the year! Tuition for all children is subsidized with additional subsidies offered based on a family’s need. This not only helps the children of our community to stay safe and their parents to make ends meet, it also helps our resort community attract a better workforce with the promise of quality, affordable daycare. Your donation will help grow and sustain the PC Tots program, so Park City’s children and their parents can remain in our workforce and continue to be an integral part of our community

Recycle Utah

Two hundred tons. That’s how much material Recycle Utah keeps out of the Summit County landfill each and every month. Reaching far beyond the paper and plastic items you can recycle curbside, Recycle Utah accepts hard-to-recycle items like polystyrene, ski equipment, e-waste and batteries, ensuring that toxic waste stays out of our landfills, groundwater, and drinking water. What’s more, its innovative building materials reuse warehouse takes construction and demolition items that would typically get dumped—including everything from old lumber to major appliances—and sells them to the public for nominal prices. And with local education programs that reach more than 5,000 students annually, Recycle Utah ensures that the next generation of Park City residents will continue to protect and preserve the community we love. It’s all part of their mission to make Park City a truly sustainable and environmentally safe place to work, live, and play. But it’s only possible with help from generous people like you. With your support, Recycle Utah can continue to be our community’s environmental guardian for many years to come.

Mountain Town Music

If you’ve ever been pleasantly surprised by a band playing on Main Street or enjoyed a free concert under the stars at Deer Valley, chances are good that you’ve been a recipient of the melodic magic that Mountain Town Music makes possible. Organizing hundreds of shows— most of which are free—and producing a variety of outreach programs and concerts for local school children, Mountain Town Music engages over 300,000 people and with its community partners gave back over 2 million dollars to the local community by presenting or programming over 300 FREE community musical performances. But to make sure the music never stops, they need your help. Your generous donation supports the power of music in Park City, making our community a more harmonious place to work, live and play.

Thank you to our sponsors Park City Board of Realtors and Tom & Kathy Raffa, Raffa P.C. for making the Giving Guide and this event possible.
