The Sam Jackenthal Fund helps create opportunities for up-and-coming athletes like Sam to pursue their dreams. The fund benefits competitive winter sports athletes. Proceeds are used by local nonprofit organizations for athletes in need of funds to train, compete, travel, provide education on being a responsible student athlete, and for keeping Sam’s memory alive in the community. The fund is managed by Park City Community Foundation.
Sam was generous, kind, and willing to push himself to achieve his dreams. Sam was a giant smile, a goofy grin, individualism at its best and a quick-witted joke. He wasn’t afraid of life’s challenges. He was always passionate in his endeavors and simply jumped in; Just Jackenthaling It! In his final year alive, Sam won the USSA men’s overall combined freestyle national championship and was ranked by AFP as one of the top 60 men skiers in the world (top 20 under 18).
Sam believed in himself and took us all along for the ride. While Sam’s loss is deeply felt by his family, his friends and the community, we know he would want us to LIVE LIKE SAM. To be totally present in our daily lives and to be compassionate and loving towards others, on and off the slopes.
