Girls Empowerment

Members of the Women’s Giving Fund don’t just donate their money, they donate their time! As mentors to the girls in our community, they’ve done everything from coaching a Girls on the Run team to coordinating the largest group of non-school-related volunteers for Read Across America to participating in oral history reports. The Women’s Giving Fund also created the Power Lunch Program at Ecker Hill Middle School to introduce 6th and 7th grade girls to a variety of career options while promoting the self-esteem and confidence needed to pursue classes that can lead to STEM careers. The lunches average over 150 participants, culminating in a Park City Mountain adventure with one-on-one mentoring.

The Mentoring Program has partnered with the Park City Film Series to show socially important documentaries and tie the message into programs at Ecker Hill Middle School and Park City High School.  Students have been awarded for Kindness after seeing “A Brave Heart” and after seeing “Audrie & Daisey” several high school students were awarded for making a difference in other students lives.

These mentoring programs have been made possible by EpicPromise grants from Vail Resorts, which enable WGF to match its members with existing mentoring opportunities and to create new mentoring programs for middle school girls.
