Park City, Utah (September 14, 2021) – Park City Community Foundation today provided critical support and recognition to local nonprofits. Community Fund grants totaling $400,000 were given out to support 57 nonprofits that have created positive change in our community. Of that amount, $100,000 was contributed by Deer Valley Resort. In addition, Beano Solomon was recognized with the annual Trisha J. Worthington Community Service Award.
The 2022 Community Fund grants were awarded to representatives from each of the 57 nonprofits who shared what the funding will help them accomplish at an award celebration today, sponsored by Deer Valley Resort at Silver Lake Lodge. and over 200 people were in attendance.
Now in its fifteenth year, Park City Community Foundation has granted over $2.25 million to nonprofits from its Community Fund. These annual grants go out to Park City and Summit County nonprofits working on a wide array of issues. The Community Fund consists of hundreds of large and small donations pooled together to serve the community’s most pressing needs and fortify the nonprofits that provide important services.
“Local nonprofits are critical in helping our community to be resilient and strong,” said Joel Zarrow, President and CEO of Park City Community Foundation. “This year, we have provided Community Fund grants ranging from $1,500 to $15,000 to more nonprofits than ever before. The grants provide mental health support, youth arts and sports programs, high-quality affordable childcare, trails and open space, affordable housing, legal assistance, and much more.”
Nonprofits are selected to receive a Community Fund grant by a committee that thoroughly reviews community needs, conducts site visits with the nonprofits, and analyzes organizations’ financials to gain the knowledge necessary to make smart grants with big impact.
Donors to Park City Community Foundation make the Community Fund possible; they include people who make gifts of any size, contributors to the Community Foundation on the annual day of giving, Live PC Give PC, and Community Pass Club members and partners. Deer Valley Resort has partnered with Park City Community Foundation to support many local nonprofits through these Community Fund grants. Deer Valley Resort contributed $100,000 to the fund allowed the Community Foundation to grant a total of $400,000.

Trisha J. Worthington Community Service Award
Additionally, the Trisha J. Worthington Community Service Award is given annually by Park City Community Foundation to an individual who has been generous with their time and talent to charitable and community endeavors. In 2022, the award honors Beano Solomon who has supported numerous, local nonprofits. In particular, her support for local children and for residents who are struggling to make ends meet has helped greatly to advance social equity in the community.
As the founding Executive Director of Park City Community Foundation, Trisha J. Worthington inspired others with the spirit of service and philanthropy. She brought life to the idea of a community foundation in greater Park City in order to have an organization that enhances philanthropy in all aspects for our community. Beano represents all the award stands for.
