Abortion Is Health Care: Support Organizations Working for Reproductive Justice

Dear Donors, Supporters, and Friends,

(June 24, 2022) Today is a sad day for us all, especially for women and women of color who will be disproportionately impacted by the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, a law that has stood for the past 50 years.

A majority of Americans and residents of our greater Park City community think abortion should be legal, view reproductive rights as a priority, and believe that decisions about health care during pregnancy should be made by the pregnant woman, not by politicians. We know that support for women’s access to health care is directly aligned with indicators for a healthy community, something we all support.

Unfortunately, Utah’s SB 174 trigger law will now go into effect, banning nearly all abortions in the state, further confirming the fragility of women’s rights locally. These restrictions on access to reproductive care will have a devastating effect on people who are already the most marginalized and vulnerable. Women of color are more likely to be affected than White women; LGBTQ+ individuals face systemic barriers to comprehensive health care; and people living in states with trigger laws like Utah have the fewest economic and health care protections in the country.

To help provide critical resources to organizations on the front lines of reproductive justice and abortion access, and to advance our mission of building an equitable community, Park City Community Foundation has identified a list of organizations doing important work in this area. Please consider donating to the organizations listed below that support reproductive justice and health care.

If you have a donor advised fund with the Community Foundation, feel free to reach out to us directly, or go through your user portal to direct funds to organizations of your choice. Our team is also available to answer your questions about partnering with us to protect reproductive freedom.

On this list, we are uplifting several organizations that serve communities of color, economically disadvantaged, and queer communities. We will be keeping a close eye on how this decision will have local repercussions and update the list as additional information is available.

In partnership,

The Community Foundation Staff
