Making Stories Stick: Nonprofit Storytelling Workshop

Tuesday, October 14, 2025, 4:00 – 5:30 pm @ Park City Library in the Community Room, 3rd Floor.

Great stories move donors, volunteers, and community partners to act. In this hands-on workshop, Scott Van Hartesvelt, community leader and marketing entrepreneur, will guide you to surface a real “mission moment,” craft a concise, compelling narrative, and test attention-grabbing openings using proven storytelling principles. You’ll leave with a polished story draft, a practical checklist, and clear next steps to strengthen your communications with stakeholders. You’ll also get great marketing and messaging tips throughout the workshop. Join us!

About the facilitator: Scott founded a hospitality digital marketing firm in 2002 and brings deep expertise in storytelling and audience engagement. He is the Director of Leadership Park City and a graduate of Class 29 and has long been active in strengthening the Park City community. He recently served as Service Chair for Sunrise Rotary, sits on the board of Hope Alliance, and is a member of the Park City Chamber Marketing Committee. A founding member of Let’s Talk, Class 29’s project, Scott lives in Summit County with his wife, Monica, and their daughter, Laila.

Please come prepared with a meaningful story from your organization that illustrates your mission in action. It doesn’t need to be fully developed, just a real example of a moment when your work made a visible difference. We’ll use these stories as the foundation for our workshop exercises.
