Lala Martinez Memorial Fund

Dave Macfarlane was a beacon of light. Always positive, compassionate and kind, his altruism and philanthropic efforts inspired all who knew him. Because of his generosity to this fund, several of our first generation students were able to realize their dreams and attend college. He had a special place in his heart for our undocumented students, recognizing they must work twice as hard to access higher education. The MAC scholarship (named for Dave Macfarlane and funded here through this Memorial) is offered to seniors at Park City High School. It enables students to pay for housing, books, computers, tuition, etc. as they aspire to attend college. It has already made a tremendous difference in the lives of many graduates.

Lala Martinez

The Lala Martinez Memorial Fund was established by Anna Martinez Williams and her family to honor the legacy of Lala, a lifetime educator. Lala taught bilingual education for over thirty years, and she worked primarily with children whose families struggled economically. She was a fierce advocate for students and their families, and she taught thousands of children how to read. She was an outstanding educator and mentor; Lala believed that higher education was her students’ “ticket out of poverty,” and she was relentless in her quest to provide access to high-quality education to all students.

The Martinez family and the MacFarlane family hope to continue the legacy of their loved ones by offering scholarships each year to local students who may otherwise not have the financial means to pursue post-secondary education.

Students wishing to apply for this scholarship should contact the Park City High School Scholarship Office.
