Patty Garcia Receives 2024 Trisha J. Worthington Award from Park City Community Foundation

Park City, Utah (September 19, 2024) – Since 2015, the Trisha J. Worthington Community Service Award has been given out annually by Park City Community Foundation to an individual who has been generous with their time and talent to charitable and community endeavors. This year’s winner, announced last night at Park City Community Foundation’s Grants Celebration, is Patty Garcia.

Patty Garcia has been giving back to the community through her job in the nonprofit sector for over 15 years. She has been a connector for countless families seeking access to resources as well as a tireless advocate for the needs of Latinx community members. She also has continued to work on closing disparities, both in her professional and volunteer roles in the community.

Patty is currently the Patient Access Director for the People’s Health Clinic, a board member of PC Tots and Mountainlands Community Housing Trust, and mother of four. She is known for her exceptional dedication, advocacy, and passion for creating accessible and inclusive opportunities when it comes to healthcare and childcare locally.

As the founding Executive Director of Park City Community Foundation, Trisha J. Worthington inspired others with the spirit of service and philanthropy. She brought the vision of a community foundation in greater Park City to life, creating an organization dedicated to enhancing philanthropy in every aspect of our community. Nominations for this award are accepted from the community each August and are thoughtfully reviewed and selected by the Community Foundation’s Community Fund Steering Committee.

Patty, a resident in the area since 2009, was nominated several times this year and last year for the Trisha J. Worthington Award. Those who nominated her noted how Patty has worked diligently to support the Latinx community and how her contributions have, “inspired others within the organizations to continue their work, ensuring that the positive changes she initiated will endure long after her direct involvement.”

“Patty has a heart of gold and is a tireless champion for childcare and healthcare,” said Sue Banerjee, Executive Director of PC Tots. “Despite working full time and raising her own children, she finds time to support the community through formal and informal ways. She is there to connect people to services and give advice. Her volunteer work with PC Tots has helped the organization bring its services to people who desperately need it. She has not hesitated to speak in front of local government bodies to say how important childcare is for working families. She has been a voice for many who otherwise would not be heard.”

With the generous support of our donors, Park City Community Foundation will grant $1,000 to a local nonprofit organization of Patty’s choice.
