Solomon Fund Holds First Large-Scale Registration Event Since the Fall of 2019

Park City, Utah (Sunday, August 29, 2021) – Park City Community Foundation held its Solomon Fund registration event, which allowed dozens of Latinx families the opportunity to sign up their kids for various sports and activities at a discounted price. The event was held at Park City High School, with nearly 20 organizations offering programs that ranged from soccer, boxing, skiing, ballet, art, and other activities.

There were also games, art activities, world-class tamales, and bikes and bike helmets were given to kids who needed them. In addition to all the fun, the People’s Health Clinic held a clinic to help vaccinate the Latinx population against COVID-19. The clinic was a great success with all available doses being used. Ten adults got their first shot ever, and several received their second dose.

“Opportunities like the Solomon Fund Registration Event allow Latinx families to become part of the community and take advantage of the great programs that their children can participate in,” said Jose Chacon, Outreach and Impact Coordinator at Park City Community Foundation. “When a child is given such an opportunity, it allows them to grow and learn life skills that they can carry throughout the rest of their lives. No matter where you come from, all children deserve the chance to be a part of the community.”

Solomon Fund is an initiative of Park City Community Foundation that focuses on access to sports and recreation for kids. The goal is to have 20% Latinx participation in programs, which also reflects the demographic of the Park City school system. Last year, Solomon Fund reached 19% Latinx participation in programs offered by organizations.
