Apply for the 2025 Equity Advancement Cohort

Applications are now open for this year’s Equity Advancement Cohort. Please apply by Friday, March 21.

Park City Community Foundation staff will be leading this cohort which will start in mid-May. A 2.5-day training led by Center for Equity & Inclusion’s Hanif Fazal and Park City Community Foundation’s Diego Zegarra and Sarah MacCarthy will kick off this 6-month long opportunity. In that period, we will meet an additional five times to discuss best practices for our community, common challenges faced, learn from case studies, and share our own journeys. Participants will examine and understand tools to apply and increase equity within their own organizations.

What will be the focus of the learning:

  • Establish a common language and framework for critical analysis with an explicit focus on race
  • Establish agreements and protocols that promote equity and create safe spaces for productive conversations about equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Explore historical foundations of structural racism and how those impact current practices and outcomes.
  • Unpack individual and institutional biases that result in systems that disproportionately impact underrepresented individuals and communities.
  • Identify and de-center dominant culture from both current and planned operational and programmatic practices.
  • Discuss strategies on outreach and engagement with the Park City community who can positively impact Equity Advancement progress.
  • Role-play how to have conversations around race.
  • Learn from local examples, each other, and best practices.

**We ask each organization to consider having at least two participants, as it can be challenging to task one individual to effect change in an organization.

Time commitment:
Participation in this cohort will require a commitment of 30+ hours of training and meetings and personal learning outside of the sessions.

2.5 day Equity Cohort Launch –> May 19-21 –> 9am-4pm on Monday and Tuesday, 9am-1pm Wednesday

Five Follow-up Sessions –> June 11, July 16, August 27, September 17, October 15 –> 9am-12pm each day

Cost:
Although the training is valued at $1,000 per participant, we are asking for a nominal commitment of $200 per person but would be willing to consider waiving fees if financial barriers exist for a participant or organization. Please get in touch with Diego Zegarra if this is the case.

Questions? Please reach out to Diego Zegarra or Sarah MacCarthy.
