Supporting working families isn’t just the right thing to do; it’s also good for business. As Utahns continue to navigate rising living costs, shifting workforce expectations, and increasing care responsibilities at home, employers play a crucial role in helping their workforce thrive.
Best Place for Working Parents is a growing national initiative that spotlights businesses leading the way in family-friendly policies. In May 2025, Park City Community Foundation’s Early Childhood Alliance partnered with Park City Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Bureau, Salt Lake Chamber, and Heber Valley Chamber of Commerce to launch Best Place for working Parents Salt Lake, Summit, and Wasatch Counties. Companies of all sizes are invited to take a free and confidential self-assessment that gives immediate designations and shares innovative practices that are helping today’s working parents.
The survey only takes a few minutes to complete and focuses on ten proven policies shown to positively impact business outcomes, including flexible work arrangements, paid parental leave, childcare support, and other family-centered benefits. The designation is based on family-friendly offerings, type of industry, and number of staff.
When a company earns the designation, it can display the badge and receive marketing materials to tout their business as a “Best Place for Working Parents®” via their website, social media, and in print. If a company does not qualify, Best Place for Working Parents shares resources and suggestions to make the business more family friendly while keeping all results confidential.
Businesses in Our Community Are Already Leading the Way
Since launching, 68 local organizations have already taken the survey, and nearly 50 have earned the badge. These employers are demonstrating that family-friendly practices are achievable for organizations of all sizes and working in many different sectors. Some of the local nonprofits and businesses that have earned the Best Place for Working Parents designation include:
As you can see, family-friendly policies are not one-size-fits-all. Businesses need to find ways to support their workforce that fit within their company’s size, industry, and ability to offer support, and the designation takes this into account. Whether you are a small start-up or a long-established business, your participation matters. Take the Best Place for Working Parents survey today and see if your business qualifies for the badge. Together, our community can build a more supportive place that helps working parents succeed at home and at work.
