The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation has been focused on childcare ever since the pandemic began. It identifies three key themes: (1) Parents are forced to make continuously changing childcare arrangements; (2) more children are staying at home with family and friends; and (3) parents are leaving the workforce.
Other findings are that women are being disproportionately affected by child care issues, almost half of employers would be likely to offer additional childcare assistance if the government provided additional incentives in the form of tax incentives or other subsidies, and parents, providers, and employers are all looking for more and better support.
