As the home of Live PC Give PC, Solomon Fund, Women’s Giving Fund, the Climate Fund, Early Childhood Alliance, and other important initiatives, Park City Community Foundation has brought millions of dollars to the greater Park City community and Summit County since its inception in 2007.

Position Summary:

The Director of Marketing and Communications plays a key leadership role in content and strategy for marketing campaigns while maximizing visibility and engagement for potential donors, partners, and advocates for specific initiatives, including our Early Childhood Alliance, Climate Fund, and Women’s Giving Fund. The Director will develop and implement creative and measurable communications and marketing plans for these initiatives that encompass advertising, public relations, market research, collateral materials, digital marketing, social media, events, and other aspects of strategic marketing.

The Director provides strategic thought partnership to the Marketing team and works closely with the Impact and Development Team members who lead the initiatives to support their needs. The position reports to the Vice President of Communications and Marketing and supervises some of the Marketing and Communications team members. The Director also helps to oversee the work of various vendors, including an ad agency, designers, website developer, videographers, and others as needed.

The Director of Marketing and Communications is expected to promote an environment of equity and inclusion with opportunities for everyone to reach their potential, and to undertake activities that align with and further the Community Foundation’s value of belonging.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development of engaging and informative content on owned channels, with a focus on social media and email newsletters, working closely with the VP of Communications and Marketing to identify priority messaging and directing other team members to create effective social posts and emails.
  • Serve as the primary strategist and coordinator for content on all digital platforms and print publications for our Early Childhood Alliance, Climate Fund, and Women’s Giving Fund. This includes emails, social media, ads, videos, website, collateral, content for annual report, and support for fundraising campaigns and events.
  • Play a leading role in defining and implementing the strategic marketing plan for our Climate Fund’s goal of achieving zero food waste by 2030 in collaboration with Climate Fund advisors. This plan will result in a large campaign to affect public behavior change and serve as a model for other mountain towns.
  • Grow awareness for and engagement in our Early Childhood Alliance’s advocacy work to create accessible, high-quality childcare for all Wasatch Back children three years old and under. Monitor, analyze, and share the status of early care and education news with followers, recommending appropriate actions and responses.
  • Provide communications support to grow our Women’s Giving Fund membership and to get a segment of members to donate to other Park City Community Foundation work. Lead annual communications process to encourage Women’s Giving Fund members to vote for a grantee, culminating in a large event where the grantee is announced.
  • Monitor, analyze, and share analytics and data to advise the broader leadership team on optimal audience development and engagement strategies.
  • Provide support for other initiatives and campaigns as needed.

Traits helpful for this position:

  • Demonstrated marketing and communications experience with proven results
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to give presentations and serve as a spokesperson
  • Great writing and editing skills, experience writing short articles, long reports, and editing experience
  • Social media content and social media advertising experience with a focus on measurement
  • Friendly and comfortable interacting with donors, leaders, and influencers
  • Detail-oriented self-starter with proven project management and ability to meet deadlines
  • Creative storyteller
  • Nonprofit sector experience

  • High emotional intelligence

  • Able to work as part of a team in a highly collaborative environment
  • Tech-savvy: familiarity with Microsoft Office 365, Google Apps, WordPress, Mailchimp, and Eventbrite a plus

Compensation: $68,000 – $75,000 depending on experience. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position. Work Location and Hours: This position is expected to work in our physical office location in Park City, UT at least 2-3 days per week, and also has the flexibility to work from home if desired.  Occasional evenings and weekends may be requested, with flex-time offered, as aligned with our core value and commitment to work-life balance.
