Q: What can I put in the food waste bin?

ALL FOOD WASTE, including meat, bones, dairy, and oils. Food-soiled napkins and cardboard can also be included. Please no plastic, cardboard, glass, corks, chemicals, coated paper, compostable containers, hazardous oils, metals, or wood. Download a printable sign for your home.

Q: Where does my food waste go?

Momentum Recycling hauls our food waste to Wasatch Resource Recovery (WRR), which processes the food waste. Biogas is captured and purified and then goes to power homes in Utah. The remaining byproduct is used as a fertilizer at local farms. Learn more on Momentum’s website.

Residential food waste collection is now available in zip codes 84060 and 84098 through Momentum Recycling.

Monthly cost is: $19.50/month for the 5-gallon bin or $27.00/month for the 16-gallon bin.

Get Your Starter Kit

Momentum Recycling will drop off your curbside bin, kitchen caddy, and roll of compostable bags.

Give a Scrap

Throw ALL FOOD SCRAPS into the bin, including meat, bones, dairy, oils, fats, avocado pits, and so on. No sorting needed!

Roll Out!

Put the curbside bin out on designated days for weekly pickups.

Repeat & Share

Repeat steps 3 and 4 indefinitely and tell all your friends and family how easy it is!

What does it cost?

A 5-gallon bin costs $19.50/month and a 16-gallon bin costs $27/month. You receive a 10% discount if you pay for a full year upfront.

What if I need help covering the fee?

What homes are eligible for food waste collection?

The curbside food waste collection service is currently available to anyone living in the 84060 and 84098 zip codes – with a staged plan to expand into other areas of Summit County.

Single-family homes will sign up and immediately be registered through Momentum Recycling’s website.

Apartments and condos in the greater Park City area are also eligible, but will require some coordination with your building manager, HOA, or property management group. Fill out the form and a Momentum representative will reach out to you and help coordinate.
