Last year, BootUp and the Park City School District began an initiative to teach all elementary students how to code. Coding classes are now part of the school day for Park City’s 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders; classes will expand to 4th and 5th graders over the next two years. In their own words: “Teaching code in elementary school develops students into logical thinkers, problem solvers, and communicators. BootUp uses age-appropriate curriculum and teaches important computational thinking skills to bring coding to an entire district.”
With its foundational presence, Park City Community Foundation is proud to serve as the vehicle for the funds to be held until BootUp becomes a full-fledged nonprofit. Through our expert advisory services, we are an agency that can ensure that BootUp gets the support it needs in the meantime. This is another way in which the Community Foundation can effect community-wide impact.
