Zero Food Waste

Together, we are eliminating and diverting all food waste from the Summit County landfill by 2030.

As a tight-knit community deeply rooted in our natural surroundings, we believe in caring for the health and wellbeing of one another and the place we call home.

We are all in this together.

Park City and Summit County residents, local authorities, businesses, and nonprofits are dedicated to Zero Food Waste. It's happening through collaboration, investment, innovation, and leadership from all sectors.

Why Food Waste?

Diverting and eliminating food waste from our landfill is a high-impact and achievable goal that will reduce methane emissions, protect our water sources from contamination, and have rippling economic benefits.

Food waste is a major contributor to the climate crisis as it releases methane, a greenhouse gas much more potent than carbon dioxide.

Roughly 80% of the solid waste that reaches our local landfill could be diverted, with up to 60% of that being food waste.
