Thanks to the generosity and inspiration of the members of the Park City Women’s Giving Fund, the Summit County Children’s Justice Center will be able to provide improved support to child victims of abuse and to their families.
The 2016 Women’s Giving Fund Grant of $30,000 will provide the Children’s Justice Center with training, facility enhancements, and family resources to help offer a safe, comfortable environment and to immediately improve the quality of life for children and family members who have been impacted by the trauma of child abuse.
The annual WGF Grant is made possible by an endowment created by over 1200 members to benefit women and children in Summit County, and exemplifies Park City Community Foundation’s mission to strengthen our community through collaborative giving and action.
The final grant decision was made by a vote of the full WGF membership. The three finalists for the grant had been selected by the WGF Grants Committee, and all three finalists were considered highly worthy of support. The award was announced on July 5th at the annual Women’s Giving Fund Grant Celebration at Deer Valley’s Silver Lake Lodge. Lead sponsors of the Grant Celebration event included Silver Star Ski & Sport and Deer Valley Resort, with additional support from Zions Bank and JPMorgan Chase.
Also announced at the event was a matching challenge offered by a group of Women’s Giving Fund members to provide immediate support for the needs of women and children. The next $10,000 raised under this challenge will be matched one-to-one, to provide a total of $20,000. The matching funds have already allowed the 2016 grant to be topped up to the same amount awarded in 2015, and another $15,000 will support scholarships for affordable childcare at PC Tots, the 2015 WGF grantee.
