2023 Equity Advancement Cohort Begins on May 24

Park City Community Foundation’s 2023 Equity Advancement Cohort has 40 participants and a waiting list of interested people for future equity cohorts. The goal of the cohort is to build capacity amongst individuals and organizations to champion and direct equity efforts at an organizational level. This is the third year that the Community Foundation is running an intensive training program focused on equity, inclusion, and belonging.

The cohort will focus on:

  • Establishing a common language and framework for critical analysis with an explicit focus on race
  • Establishing agreements and protocols that promote equity and create safe spaces for productive conversations about equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Exploring historical foundations of structural racism and how those impact current practices and outcomes.
  • Unpack individual and institutional biases that result in systems that disproportionately impact underrepresented individuals and communities.
  • Identifying and de-center dominant culture from both current and planned operational and programmatic practices.
  • Discussing strategies on outreach and engagement with the Park City community who can positively impact Equity Advancement progress.
  • Role-playing how to have conversations around race.
  • Learning from local examples, each other, and best practices.

This year’s cohort participants are committed leaders from local companies and organizations. Participation requires a time commitment of 30+ hours of training and meetings, as well as personal learning outside of the sessions.

Training dates:

  • Cohort Launch – Reframing Racism: May 24-26
  • Follow-up Session #1: June 16
  • Follow-up Session #2: August 2
  • Follow-up Session #3: August 31
  • Follow-up Session #4: September 28
  • Follow-up Session #5: October 26

Park City Community Foundation has asked participants for a nominal commitment of $200 per person but is willing to waive fees if financial barriers exist for a participant or organization. Participants can get in touch with Diego Zegarra if that is the case.

For other questions about the cohort, please feel free to reach out to Sarah or Diego anytime.
