Childcare Subsidies Are Available

Department of Workforce Services Child Care Subsidy

The Utah Department of Workforce Services offers a subsidy to help pay for childcare costs.  Parents are still responsible for making a co-payment to the provider, but the subsidy will cover a large portion of the childcare costs.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • ·       Parent(s) must be a “qualified” immigrant (permanent legal resident, refugee, asylees, people granted withholding of deportation or removal, etc.) or U.S. Citizen.

  • ·       Eligible children must be under the age of 13 and/or a special needs child under the age of 18.

  • ·       Single parents must work an average of at least 15 hours per week and make at least minimum wage.  For 2-parent households, the second parent must work an average of at least 30 hours a week.

  • ·       Must use a licensed childcare provider or Family Friend or Neighbor that is approved by DWS.

  • ·       Must meet required Income Limits (85% of the State Median Income). For example, for a family of 3, the maximum monthly income limit is $3236.
