Park City Municipal Donates $50,000 to Community Response Fund for COVID-19

Park City Community Foundation Matches City’s Contribution, Dollar-for-Dollar, from Its Operating Reserves

April 9, 2020 – PARK CITY, UTAH – Park City Community Foundation today announced the commitment of Park City Municipal to contribute $50,000 to the Community Response Fund. Park City Community Foundation also matched the city’s donation by contributing $50,000 from its operating reserves to the fund. The combined effort brings an additional $100,000 to help ensure that basic needs and emergency assistance are met for Parkites who are disproportionately impacted by coronavirus and the economic consequences of the outbreak.

“In this time of unprecedented need in Park City, I am pleased that the city has joined us to help provide our community with food, housing, and healthcare assistance by way of the great nonprofits that are working on the frontlines of COVID-19,” said Katie Wright, Executive Director or Park City Community Foundation. “I am grateful that the Community Foundation’s Board of Directors decided that now is the time to dedicate operating reserves to the crisis and doubled the city’s impact.”

Grants from the fund are initially providing emergency support to health and human services nonprofits that have deep roots in the community and strong experience working with residents without health insurance or access to sick days, people with limited English language proficiency, healthcare and gig economy workers, and communities of color, among others.

“With unanimous support of the city council, we are dedicating resources for the current emergency phase of COVID-19 in Park City,” said Park City Mayor Andy Beerman. “Organizations like the Community Foundation, the Christian Center, People’s Health Clinic, Jewish Family Services, and others are offering critical assistance to all who need it due to job loss, and we are happy to partner with them.”

Park City Community Foundation activated its Community Response Fund on March 13 to bring together philanthropy, government, and business partners to rapidly deploy resources to those who are being most highly impacted by COVID-19. The goal of the fund is to provide immediate assistance for urgent needs and to also have resources available to provide assistance in future months to help with stabilization and address long-term recovery. The fund provides unrestricted grants quickly and efficiently to areas in greatest need as they emerge and change in the months to come.

Park City Municipal and the Community Foundation have joined many other donors who have given to the fund. More information and grantees can be found at parkcitycf.org/communityresponsefund.
