Grant ApplicationCommunity Project Funding for Impactful Nonprofits
When a family in need gets a new roof over their heads or the community comes together for a free movie under the stars, it’s our local nonprofits that have made it possible. But they can only do it with solid financial support. That’s where the Community Fund comes in.
It’s a single fund that pools hundreds of large and small donations together to serve Park City’s most pressing needs through grants for nonprofits.
Great Charities to Support in Park City
By giving to the Community Fund, donors are assured that their dollars address the most critical community challenges and innovative local initiatives. While there are many options for giving through Park City Community Foundation, donating directly to our Community Fund means that your gift is unrestricted and always serving a vital purpose, even as the community changes and evolves.
When you give to the Community Fund, you’re increasing and accelerating the impact of Park City nonprofits. A gift of any size to the Community Fund helps support all our grant programs, ongoing training events, and community-wide initiatives like Live PC Give PC.

Eligibility
Park City Community Foundation will consider grant applications from organizations meeting all the following eligibility requirements:
- Serve people living or working in Summit County (Wasatch County will be considered, although grant making decisions will emphasize organizations based in Summit County that serve Summit County).
- Qualify as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization under the Internal Revenue Code.
- Applicants without 501(c)(3) status, but who have applied to the IRS (Internal Revenue Service) for such status, may apply. Receipt letter from the IRS of application is required at time of application to Park City Community Foundation.
- Applicants without 501(c)(3) status, but that are operating under an organization qualified as a 501(c)(3) organization, may apply separately if they have the written consent of the qualified organization. In that case, the application must contain a letter of agreement between the two organizations, which sets forth the responsibilities of each organization.
- Applicants that are not 501(c)(3) organizations but are implementing charitable activities for the benefit of the citizens of Summit County should contact Park City Community Foundation before applying. Under some circumstances, they are eligible to be considered for funding but may be required to adhere to separate reporting measures and disbursement processes.
Only one application per organization or alliance per grant cycle will be considered. An alliance may be a collaborative effort between two or more nonprofit organizations. The alliance would then submit one application.
Restrictions
Grants will not be awarded for:
- debt reductions or retiring past operating deficits
- sponsorships, dinners, or one-time events
- fellowships or other grants to individuals
- loans
- litigation
- political campaigns
- endowment funds
- graduate and post-graduate research

Community Foundation’s Grantmaking Due Diligence Policy
The Community Foundation will not make grants to organizations known to support, or who engage in activities, or who publish language that incites or engages in violence, intimidation, harassment, threats, or defamation targeting an individual or group based on their actual or perceived race, color, religion, national origin, ethnicity, immigration status, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, or physical or mental ability. These activities are contrary to the Community Foundation’s mission and its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Review Criteria
Once applications are screened per the Eligibility, Restrictions, and Grantmaking Due Diligence Policy, the Community Fund Steering Committee will use the following 4 criteria to review applications. These criteria are not exclusive, and the committee reserves the right to use its own best judgment when making final grant awards.
- Community Contribution & Local Impact: Does the applicant’s work support the well-being of the Greater Park City community, and do they serve a meaningful portion of Summit County residents or workforce (generally considered 50% or more), or provide an essential service that addresses a critical need within the community?
- Potential for Impact: Does the organization have clear goals and a reasonable way of knowing whether its work is making a difference?
- Equity & Belonging Practices: Does the organization take intentional steps to include and reflect the people most impacted by their work—particularly those affected by systemic racial inequities—in decision-making, leadership, or program design? Are equity and belonging embedded in the organization’s overall approach and relationships with the community?
- Organizational Budget & Financial Health: Based on the applicant’s operating budget and uploaded financials, does the organization appear financially stable and well-positioned to use Community Fund grant funding effectively?
Multiyear Grants
Park City Community Foundation makes a small number of multiyear Community Fund Grants. The Community Foundation will specifically invite selected organizations to submit applications that cover two- or three-year periods. Invitation is based on organizational alignment with the Community Foundation’s critical priorities and values, the organization’s demonstrated impact, and limited access to alternative Community Foundation funds. The award is determined by the Community Fund Steering Committee. Organizations not invited to submit a multiyear proposal should submit a regular annual grant proposal. Any multiyear grants awarded will be subject to annual renewal based on the results of annual site visits, funding availability, and any other factors at the discretion of the Steering Committee.
Organizations with an active multiyear grant may submit, before the annual grant application deadline, a simple letter requesting grant continuation, rather than submitting a full application. Please submit Community Fund grant continuation letters no later than July 11, 2025.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I submit a Community Fund Grant application?
All organizations wishing to apply for a Community Fund Grant must submit a full application. Once the application process opens on June 9, 2025, the application form will be available at grantinterface.com/Process/Apply?urlkey=parkcitycf. All applicants should submit a full application by the deadline of July 11, 2025.
What are key elements of the grant application?
Please see the Review Criteria in the grant guidelines to learn what should be included.
How many organizations submit applications, and how many then receive grants?
In 2024, 80 organizations applied and of those, 55 received grants. The final number of grants awarded in 2025 is likely to be similar to last year.
How much should we request?
Grant requests may range from $2,500 to $15,000. When determining your request amount, consider the the overall size of the organization, and the likelihood of other matching funding being available.
Do you use a scoring sheet or rubric to rate the proposals?
Please see the Review Criteria in the grant guidelines to learn what should be included.
Are projects funded outside of Summit County?
The focus of the Community Fund is to support programs that currently serve the greater Park City and Summit County area. Grants may include activities that provide benefits outside of Summit County, but the committee will mostly be looking at the aspects of the proposal benefitting Summit County and its nearest neighboring areas.
What elements of prior proposals have resonated strongly and made them more appealing?
Beyond the Review Criteria listed in the grant guidelines, the committee looks for whether all the pieces of the proposal fit together and flow toward the proposed goals and outcomes. If the grant proposal is a collaboration with another organization, it is often beneficial to get a letter of support from that organization to demonstrate the partnership.
What are capacity-building proposals?
Examples included areas such as board development, strategic planning, and communications, among others. The application should clearly demonstrate how the proposed support will directly affect the scale and/or depth of their impact in the community.
Are multiyear grants available?
Yes. These multiyear grants can cover two to three years. A handful of organizations that have received consistent grant support in recent years will be specifically invited to apply for multiyear grants. If a multiyear grant is awarded, continuation of funds beyond year one will be contingent upon an annual site visit, progress toward intended goals, and any other factors the steering committee considers relevant.
File types: What parts of the online application require file uploads?
You will be asked to upload your organization’s current budget and most recent IRS Form 990. All other application fields will be text-based entries. Please upload documents as PDFs and ensure they are clearly formatted and easy to read.
What are the reporting requirements for Community Fund Grants?
Community Fund grantees are asked to submit a short written report in the spring following grant awards. This is an opportunity to share your successes, lessons learned, and vision with the Community Foundation.
Over what period of time can grant funds be spent?
While there is no specific required spending period, Community Fund Grants are generally expected to be spent within twelve months of issuance. For the small number of multiyear grants issued, the spending period will extend to two or three years, with funding provided in annual amounts based on the original budget and/or other considerations.
Where does the money come from for Community Fund Grants?
Park City Community Foundation raises unrestricted donations through the Community Pass Club program and through unrestricted gifts from individuals, families, businesses, and donor-advised funds. Deer Valley is an additional funder of Community Fund grants each year.
How do funds get allocated from donor-advised funds?
Donor-advised funds are directed by donors or others authorized to direct grants, and approved by the Park City Community Foundation Board of Directors. Foundation staff occasionally provide information to donor advisors on what nonprofits are active in particular areas of interest.
