Park City Community Foundation awards local nonprofits with annual Community Fund Grants and announces the Trisha J. Worthington Community Service Award

Park City, Utah (September 12, 2023) – Park City Community Foundation today announced its critical support and recognition to local nonprofits. Its annual Community Fund grants totaling $425,000 were given out to support 53 nonprofits that have created positive change in Summit County. Of that amount, $100,000 was contributed by Deer Valley Resort. Thus far this year, the Community Foundation has given out a total of $2.1 million in grants, and this most recent round of grants from its Community Fund is the largest. In addition, Sydney Reed was recognized with the annual Trisha J. Worthington Community Service Award.

Nonprofit representatives from the 53 grantee organizations along with donors to the Community Fund celebrated together at an award celebration today, sponsored by Deer Valley Resort at Snow Park Lodge. Over 180 people were in attendance.

Now in its sixteenth year, Park City Community Foundation has granted over $2.65 million to nonprofits from its Community Fund. These annual grants go out to Park City and Summit County nonprofits working on a wide array of issues. The Community Fund consists of hundreds of large and small donations pooled together to serve the community’s most pressing needs and fortify the nonprofits that provide important services.

“Local nonprofits are critical in helping our community to be resilient and strong,” said Joel Zarrow, President and CEO of Park City Community Foundation. “This year, we have provided Community Fund grants ranging from $2,500 to $17,000 to nonprofits addressing critical community needs. The grants provide mental health support, youth arts and sports programs, high quality affordable childcare, open space, affordable housing, legal assistance, and much more. Donations to our Community Fund bolster our ability to lead on critical issues and we appreciate the support.”

Nonprofits are selected to receive a Community Fund grant by a committee which thoroughly reviews community needs, conducts site visits with the nonprofits, and analyzes organizations’ financials to gain the knowledge necessary to make smart grants with big impact.

Donors to Park City Community Foundation make the Community Fund possible. They include people who make gifts of any size, contributors to the Community Foundation on the annual day of giving, Live PC Give PC, and Community Pass Club members and partners. Deer Valley Resort has partnered with Park City Community Foundation to support many local nonprofits through these Community Fund grants. Deer Valley Resort contributed $100,000 to the fund allowing the Community Foundation to grant a total of $425,000.
