Ellen Silver Announced as 2020 Recipient of the Trisha J. Worthington Community Service Award

Jewish Family Service of Utah Executive Director Awarded for Charitable Work

Park City, Utah (September 21, 2020) — The Trisha J. Worthington Community Service Award is given annually by Park City Community Foundation to an individual who has been generous with their time and talent to charitable and community endeavors. This year’s awardee is Ellen Silver, Executive Director of Jewish Family Service of Utah (JFS) who has been honored for her tireless work to ensure that residents who lost jobs and were significantly impacted by Covid-19 continued to have the resources to remain in their homes and feed their families.

Under Ellen’s leadership, JFS significantly increased its services to meet the increased demand from locals and essential workers who have been struggling financially and otherwise due to Covid-19. Services include emergency financial assistance and mental health counseling. This award recognizes Silver’s valuable contributions as an essential part of enhancing the greater Park City community. Silver exemplifies the behaviors the Community Foundation recognizes in award winners including:

  • Inspiring others to engage more in community service
  • Having an extraordinary commitment to our community
  • Performing with excellence in community service activities

As the founding Executive Director of Park City Community Foundation, Trisha J. Worthington inspired others with the spirit of service and philanthropy. She brought life to the idea of a community foundation in greater Park City in order to have an organization that enhances philanthropy in all aspects for our community.

Worthington says, “I’m extremely proud and honored that Ellen was nominated and selected for this award. This has been a challenging several months for many people and Ellen’s team has strengthened our community during these difficult times. Her dedication to individuals and families of all backgrounds has been vital during the Covid-19 pandemic.”

With the generous support of Community Foundation donors and the Worthington Family Fund, Park City Community Foundation will grant $1,000 to a local cause chosen by the awardee which will be Jewish Family Service this year.
