Dr. Tania Bodnar on Supporting Women’s Health and Wellbeing Locally

Supporting Nonprofits, Women's Giving Fund

Dr. Tania Bodnar has built a life defined by compassion, caring for women, and showing up for the communities who need her most. She brings that same compassion to her role as a Steering Committee member of the Women’s Giving Fund, a program of Park City Community Foundation that unites more than 2,400 women+ members across Summit County around collective giving to support local women+ and children.

Born in Mexico to Colombian parents, Tania’s multicultural upbringing shaped both her worldview and her work. She pursued a career in medicine through an international medical program in Guadalajara, Mexico, completed her clinical rotations stateside, and finished her residency training in Stamford, Connecticut, where she went on to spend a decade in private practice.

By 2018, with young kids at home and fast paced years behind her, Tania and her husband were ready for a change. She and her family moved to Park City that year, in search of the kind of quality of life that balances demanding work with real family time. Tania’s first role brought her to Park City Hospital, where she began working closely with People’s Health Clinic. That connection eventually grew into her current role as Women’s Health Medical Director at the clinic four years ago. She also continues to work as a laborist, a choice that keeps her acute clinical skills sharp and her hands in the day-to-day work of patient care.

“My heart and my passion is People’s Health Clinic. Making sure that everybody has the same standard quality care is important,” Tania said. “It is incredible to see what People’s Health Clinic has become over the last 27 years since it began. And it has been even more amazing seeing the program evolve over my last four years here. Especially growing the obstetrics department and ensuring the same quality of care across these services.”

Throughout her life, Tania has always been passionate about supporting her community. That same spirit is what helped her feel connected to Park City Community Foundation when a friend brought her along to the Women’s Giving Fund Grant Celebration in 2019. She didn’t know much about the Community Foundation yet, but that night she watched People’s Health Clinic win a Women’s Giving Fund grant for the first time: $35,000 to expand maternal and child healthcare services in Summit County. Inspired, Tania became a Women’s Giving Fund member that year.

Since then, she’s seen firsthand what Women’s Giving Fund funding makes possible. When Tania started, the clinic was still building its standards of care for women’s health. In 2024, People’s Health Clinic received a $75,000 Women’s Giving Fund high-impact grant to expand pre- and post-natal care for women. That grant helped create a dedicated medical assistant and case management position, one built around bilingual support and consistent follow-through. With this, Tania and her team continue to provide well-rounded care to women throughout the community and ensure everyone has access to high-quality care.

Tania is completing her third and final year on the Women’s Giving Fund Steering Committee, which is responsible for reviewing grant requests and deciding on the three finalists each year.

“The friendships and the sense of shared purpose are what I’ll miss most,” Tania said. “Being in a room with smart, driven women working through hard questions together is something that truly inspired me.”

As she steps back, she’s hoping to encourage others to step forward and join. She says that being in the room where decisions are made and impact happens is something everyone should experience. To carry on her work in the community, she plans to stay involved with Women’s Giving Fund and hopes to inspire more people to join. Her 11-year-old daughter is now a Women’s Giving Fund member too; a small but meaningful sign of the generational impact this community keeps building
